Cylinders and Master Key Systems

At DOM we manufacture different security cylinder ranges to suit a wide range of security applications. DOM cylinders come in a large variety of sizes and specifications these include; euro profile (euro cylinder locks), Scandinavian oval profile (oval cylinder locks), cam locks, key switch locks and padlocks all of which can be linked together in a masterkey system if required.

What are security cylinders?

Security cylinder locks, or pin tumbler locks are barrel shaped devices suitable for both commercial and domestic properties and are the most popular way of locking a door both internally and externally. Security cylinders are easy to install as hardly any tools are required and come in a range of shapes and sizes to suit many different applications.

How to measure security cylinders?

To measure a security cylinder you simply need to measure from the centre screw hole to the outside edges.
A cylinder measurement is often displayed '30-30' indicating that the cylinder is 30mm each side of the screw hole.

What is a masterkey system?

A Masterkey System is a key plan that allows a key or set of keys to provide specific access to a number of pre-defined doors. The system functions like a hierarchy providing access to different key holders such as building owners, facilities managers or members of staff. A system like this ensures greater control and convenience as it provides quick access to all rooms, saves key replacement costs and increases safety as management and security staff can access any room if required.
