The Tees, Esk and Wear Valley NHS manage a hub for mental health services in Whitby, Ryedale and Scarborough that provides inpatient facilities for adults and the elderly along with accommodation for supporting teams such as estates, corporate services and training facilities.
Appleyard Security Limited was tasked to provide security and ironmongery suitable for the needs of the premises. Appleyard is a Middlesbrough based family locksmiths established in 1883 who cut keys and fit locks for homes and businesses across England. Appleyard chose to specify ix Teco from DOM UK as it offers a long patent (2038) keeping the key profile exclusively in the hands of DOM authorised dealers for years to come and a flat reversible key profile which provides extra safety in anti-ligature environments as there are no sharp edges which can be used to injure oneself or others. The project consists of multiple sites which will be completed in multiple phases so it was important that the masterkey suite that was selected could be added to and changed as the project develops.
DOM ix Teco features other advantages such as an innovative stamped recess on a reversible key ideal for high security applications and the keys are created using a special high-deep milling technique which enhances security during profile checks making the profile more difficult to copy.
