Peddle My Wheels started as a bedroom business selling children's second-hand items, when it soon became apparent that there was an abundance of high-quantity outgrown children's bikes that people did not know what to do with. These bikes were collected, refurnished and distributed, providing a stock of low-cost bikes for children and preventing these old bikes from going to waste, this later grew to include adult bikes.
Peddle My Wheels set out with two aims; to run a socially, ethically and environmentally responsible enterprise and to help people move to a more sustainable lifestyle. In 2022 they launched OurBike, an app-based community cargo share scheme.
DOM UK and sister company Tapkey have been working with Peddle My Wheels to secure their bikes over the last few years, we spoke to CEO, Alper Muduroglu about their current relationship with DOM UK and what the future holds for the two companies.
Who is your DOM UK contact and how long have you been working with them?
“I have been working with DOM UK Sales & Marketing Director Lloyd Chitty since the beginning of our relationship with DOM, him and Sales Manager Owen Boothby assist with any of our needs from a technical perspective, from the back office I contact Emma and the team who provide all of the information that we need to correctly place an order.”
How do you find working with DOM UK customer services?
“During our time with DOM, sometimes dealing with customer services has been slightly difficult due to the multiple sales managers who have been assigned to our area. Now glad to be dealing with Lloyd and National Sales Manager Owen Boothby on a regular basis who help us to specify and sort any issues which rarely crop up.”
What DOM products do you use and why?
“We have been working with DOM UK’s sister company Tapkey for a few years now. Their software works in the background providing the perfect fit for what our company is trying to achieve.”
“We use DOM Digital Tapkey Cylinders attached to Grade 5 padlocks as these provide the perfect security solution, securing our bikes across London and beyond.”
What sectors do you supply with DOM UK systems?
“We mainly supply the public sector such as councils in particular assisting with their active travel requirements.”
Are there any projects that you are looking to supply DOM products on over the next 12 months?
“Ourbike is our next big project which utilises DOM cylinders. OurBike is a community led, green initiative designed to make sustainable, active transport accessible to everyone. The e-cargo bike is secured by a DOM cylinder wherever it is left. The audit trail allows us to know that the bike has been secured correctly”.
Do you use DOM eNet?
“We have recently received training from Owen on DOM eNET, I look forward to using the platform to place orders in future.”
