On 7th May, Norbain’s Blackpool site hosted a training day demonstrating the seamless integration of DOM UK’s electronic locking range within the Suprema BioStar 2 access control platform.
The session was organised by Cloe Snell, Suprema Key Accounts Manager, and Ollie Dawber, Suprema Brand Champion at Norbain. Representing DOM UK were Owen Boothby, Head of Sales and Marketing and Luke Scott, Technical Support Digital Solutions.
Norbain SD is one of the UK’s leading distributors of electronic security solutions, supplying CCTV, access control, and intruder detection systems to customers nationwide and in over 70 countries. Thanks to its direct partnership with Suprema UK, Norbain now offers access to DOM UK’s locking range as a fully integrated extension of the Suprema range.

The training day was split into three back-to-back sessions, ensuring the Norbain team had the opportunity to learn the product and ask in-depth questions. Attendees were open about the reliability challenges they’ve faced with competitor products, an issue that prompted detailed discussion around DOM’s robust, German-designed and manufactured range.
A discussion point was DOM’s Wireless Mesh Network, which enables scalable and flexible networking of product across sites of any size. Each gateway supports up to 32 repeaters which can cover up to 500 devices. Communication between DOM products and the gateway is done via BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy). This allows for highly efficient installations with minimal cabling, simplified infrastructure, and fast commissioning, ideal for both new-builds and retrofit applications.
Other key product advantages include a non-handed design for simpler specification, escutcheons that cover legacy door marks for cleaner retrofits, battery-powered operation offering approximately two years of life, and broad MIFARE compatibility, including third-party cards such as student IDs, all backed by commissioning support from the DOM UK technical team.
We would like to thank Norbain for their excellent hospitality, it was a friendly, well-organised training day and a great opportunity to connect with the team on a technical level.
