What is a Masterkey System?

A Master Key System is a hierarchical key plan that allows specific access to pre-defined doors, offering building owners, facilities managers, and staff streamlined security and control. This mechanical system improves convenience by granting quick access to multiple rooms, reducing key replacement costs, and enhancing safety, as authorised personnel can access any room when needed. DOM UK supplies a wide range of customisable security cylinder locks, which can be tailored into bespoke, scalable Master Key Systems for optimised building management, enhanced security, and superior control. Our expert partner network is ready to design the perfect solution for your needs.

What are the advantages of a Master Key System?

Convenience: With a Master Key System, one key can unlock multiple security cylinder locks, allowing building owners or facilities managers to manage access to various areas without carrying numerous keys. This simplifies building management and daily operations.

Control: Master Key Systems enable precise access management by allowing keys to be coded for specific areas. Staff can be given access only to the areas they need, while building owners or facilities managers have full access across the premises.

Security: DOM UK offers high-security cylinder locks with keys that can only be duplicated by authorised DOM dealers, ensuring maximum security and peace of mind that your premises are safeguarded.

Cost-Effective: Lost or stolen keys are inexpensive to replace, as DOM keys can be quickly and affordably duplicated by an authorised DOM dealer or directly by DOM, making it a cost-effective solution.

Efficiency: With streamlined access management, employees can access necessary areas without hindrance, enhancing productivity while maintaining security.

Different System Types

Master Key System

A Master Key System is ideal for small to medium-sized businesses where access is limited to select individuals. This hierarchical system allows top-level key holders, such as a Managing Director, to access every cylinder within the building, providing unmatched convenience. Master Key systems from DOM UK can be customised to include all types of DOM security cylinder locks operated by a single key, ensuring both convenience and enhanced safety for your facility.

Grand Master Key System

A Grand Master Key (GMK) System is ideal for large organisations where well-defined access structures are essential. This hierarchy offers unrestricted access at the top level for heads of departments and managers, middle-level access for management and teams, and limited access for employees at the base level.

A typical GMK System has three levels:

  • Level 1 - Grand Master Key (GMK): Unlocks all cylinders across all sites
  • Level 2 - Master Key (MK): Unlocks all cylinders within a specific building
  • Level 3 - Sub-Master Key (SMK): Unlocks specific departments or areas within a building

Each cylinder also includes a unique key for individual access, ensuring a secure and controlled environment.

Common Entrances

Common Entrance Systems are ideal for apartment buildings and halls of residence, where individuals need access to main entry doors without accessing neighboring units. This setup allows for secure entry keys that only unlock common areas, which is particularly useful for maintenance and delivery companies needing access to shared corridors. Additionally, common entrance cylinders can be seamlessly integrated into a larger Master Key System.

Keyed to Differ

A Keyed to Differ (KTD) cylinder is designed to be operated solely by its unique key, with access also possible through relevant master keys within the system. This setup ensures individual security for each lock while maintaining flexibility in a Master Key System.

Keyed Alike

Keyed Alike (KA) cylinders are a collection of locks that can be operated using the same key, along with the relevant master keys. This design offers enhanced convenience and flexibility within Master Key Systems, allowing multiple Keyed Alike sets to be specified for tailored access solutions.
