The permanently open card can be used to set a terminal device to the so-called "permanently open mode" and back to the neutral initial situation. In this mode the end device is permanently engaged and everyone, whether authorised or not, can operate the end device and open the door. This is done, for example, during business hours with many visitors at the main entrance doors, when a reception behind is permanently manned.
